Crème de la Crêpe

Disney's Human Element - Crème de la Crêpe

I've never had anything from here, but I heard the chocolate ice cream is REALLY good.

This shot was inspired by a Fave of mine by Kiki FL.

P.S. "Crème de la Crêpe" is the name of some cafe in CA.  So be sure to visit if you're ever in Culver City, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Pasadena, Long Beach, or Redondo Beach.  ;)

Who Invited The Young Whipper-Snapper???

Disney's Human Element - Who Invited The Young Whipper-Snapper???

Faithful fans, and one unlucky young soul, line up to see Paul Revere & the Raiders.

For those that are wondering; lines this long are typical for the various concerts during the Flower & Garden Fest, as well as during the Food & Wine Fest.

DO Feed the Birds

Disney's Human Element - DO Feed the Birds

...... Then again, maybe don't.

The one downside to feeding the birds????  They become ruthless!!!!!

I've seen (a few mintues before taking this) and heard of (my wife's testimonial) birds swooping down in an attempt to grab your eats.

I guess they figure, since a lot of people give food away, they might as well just TAKE the "offerings" themselves.

The Kir Royal Earnings

Disney's Human Element - The Kir Royal Earnings

At the end of the night, a manager goes through the daily take from this French dining establishment.

....... I guess. ;)

End of the Shift

Disney's Human Element - End of the Shift

When most people end their shift, 'Destination: Home' is the only thing on their mind. But when you work at one of Disney's premiere restaurants, a little sticking around is in order.

In actuality, she's probably in good company. I have a another shot through this window (yes, I was being a little creepy this night) where she was congregating with fellow workers for a little while. And I'm sure the late night snacking isn't too shabby. ;)

Tour de France

Disney's Human Element - Tour de France

EPCOT's World Showcase. Whether strolling along "The Seine", or dining at the best that "Paris" has to offer, this is Disney's way of submersing its guests in various cultures. Here, a Cast Member tells the tales of her glorious home country; from its influence on the culinary scene, to its pure sophistication. From the various “Oooo’s” and “Ahhh’s” of her audience, you could’ve stood here for hours. Not often does a young person embrace their cultural past, and display it with such true passion. This, my friends, was 'Très Magnifique'!!!

For some reason, while I was writing that, I was picturing Anthony Bourdain speaking. I guess I could hear that coming out of his mouth. I really have no idea what the CM was talking about though. I kinda just took the shot and left. But lately, I’ve realized that I should kinda slow down and really take in certain scenes. Instead of just getting the shot, I need to just ‘enjoy’. And if anything, at least I’ll have key information, and maybe even a unique story to add.

Charm The Pants Off The Crowd

Disney's Human Element - Charm The Pants Off The Crowd (by Scott Smith (SRisonS))

One of the great things that Disney does, is to make the ordinary experience extraordinary!!!

In Japan's Pick-A-Pearl area, there is already a bit of excitement in what kind of jewel you'll discover (of course you'll get a pearl... but there's also size and color to consider). But to really make you feel like you've come across the "Crème de la Crème", the Cast Member plays a little ditty to celebrate your accomplishment.

Art With Character

Disney's Human Element - Art With Character (by Scott Smith (SRisonS))

Watching caricature artists, and other artisans at Disney; it's amazing how "in the zone" these people are. Not only do they have to focus on doing such fabulous work; but there are constant crowds about, kids crying, grumpy dads crying, and crazy photographers taking endless pictures.

Bon Appetit!!!

Disney's Human Element - Bon Appetit!!!

I'll let Anthony Bourdain take the reins for this one.... (visualize soft French music)

*********************************************************************
Why the French don't suck!

Sure, the French are renowned for their culinary technique and invention. But even more crucial, more precious, is the sensual point of view behind it. That drives not only their cuisine, but their entire existence. It may just save the world.

The most important thing to do the instant you arrive is Paris, is stop. Find someplace inviting, and slip comfortably into the Parisian pace of life.

... This gets right to the kernel of what distinguishes the French. What are the French famous for? Perfume that smells good. Sense of smell. Food that tastes good. Sense of taste. Art, architecture. Visual sense. Ok, there's really no explanation for their crap pop music. But, you know, 3 out of 4 is not bad. These are all matters of the senses. It's their attitude towards pleasure, and sensuality. And food, in general, being the best example.

... Eating is, and should be, a joyous occasion. As should the use of all your senses. So America, perhaps you should try it. Maybe duck out of the office when the boss isn't looking. Or call in sick for that boring meeting. Pull up a chair in a local joint. Grab a tasty beverage, and eat a ham sandwich. REALLY eat a ham sandwich. You just may find you not only love the French again; but you may also love life.... and ultimately... the world.

- No Reservations - Season 1, Episode 1 ..... Netflix ROCKS btw. ;)
